I set up Quantic Accountancy in 1991, having been a senior manager for Moores Rowland in Chelmsford. I commenced training in 1975 with Hazelwood & Co, a medium sized firm in Cheltenham, and completed my training in 1977 with Stoy Hayward, a large accountancy practice in London. In 1979 I was then offered the position of financial and management controller with Pellys, a practice of solicitors in Bishop’s Stortford, during which time I both devised and implemented the necessary accounting computerised systems. In 1981 I became the personal assistant to the senior partner of Whitmarsh Sterland in Cambridge and finally, in 1985 become senior manager of audit and accounts at Moores Rowland in Chelmsford.
I gained experience of auditing and providing advice to large companies with Stoy Hayward and Moores Rowland whilst my time with Whitmarsh Sterland gave me a great deal of experience in personal, corporate and capital taxation. During this period I was involved with a number of tax planning exercises for clients and complex negotiations with the Inland Revenue, one of which ended up as a successful High Court case, which became a test case quoted in tax law books. Lastly, the knowledge gained from my agricultural degree from London University Wye College also allows me to provide financial advice relevant to the needs of the farming community.
I started training in 1994 with a small practice in Bishop’s Stortford, gaining a wide experience but with a specialised focus on audit work. In 1998 I joined a medium sized practice in Halstead, where I completed my training and rose to the position of senior manager. I managed a large portfolio of clients which predominately involved dealing with small and medium size limited companies to fulfil their statutory audit, accounts and taxation requirements. Once the audit limits were increased, I focused more on assisting clients with management accounting, tax planning and financial monitoring systems which in turn has enabled me to develop expertise within the construction and rental sectors.
I joined Quantic Accountancy in 2007 and confirmed my long term commitment by becoming a part owner a year later. My aim is to provide clients with my wide ranging experience in a professional, approachable and friendly manner.
